Hi Steve. I have also been advised that because the mic jack is also a line
in, you need a pre amp with the mic which makes it not very viable for
recording lectures. The client I am referring to would ideally like a device
small enough for using as a note taker but with good enough quality to record
meetings as well. I know the PTR 2 would do the job but it is a bit expensive
and it does a lot more than is required.

Thanks for all the advice I have received about the Milestone M311.

Regards

Graham

  Hi Graham,

It has a built in mic, and you can plug a mic or line input into it. I
believe if you use the built in mic, it records in MP3 at 32KBPS, and if you
plug a line or mic input into it externally, then the recording bit rate
automatically goes up to 192KBPS. You have no control over this however, it is
either one or the other.

  All the best

Subject: [access-uk] milestone M311 recording question

  Hi all.

I was asked today about the recording quality of the Milestone M311. not
interested in it for recording broadcast quality stuff, but may want to take
audio notes. I can't find much by doing a web search for "milestone m311" in
google. Is there a built in microphone? can you plug a microphone in?

This is really only just about access technology but RNIB doesn't say whether
or not there is a microphone. I would have to download the whole instructions
to find Out I suppose.

  Cheers

  Graham
