Hi George It's clever! I have read about Whispernet and kind of wondered if it was because of the 3G signal that enabled the book to download. On that basis then, would I need to put in my WiFi key as I had thought it was mandatory for transferring books? Thanks for your help, and again for the extremely useful tour. You book will have arrived by Amazon Whispernet 3G. It will automatically do this if there is a good phone signal. Hence you don't need to be in a wireless hotspot, just a mobile phone area where 3G can be received. George. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie Cairns Sent: 05 November 2012 09:55 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: how to get the kindle talking Hi Steve and all Believe it or not, my Kindle Keyboard has today arrived, and I have managed to follow your quick instructions for turning it on. Thanks George for the brilliant tour you provided in your Email which helped me enormously to familiarise myself before powering it up. I do have a couple of questions though please? On a standard qwerty keyboard, the caps lock is always to the left of the letter a. As the home keys on the KK are not marked because of their size, could someone please tell me if the letter a is to the extreme left on the third row up from the bottom on the KK? Knowing this will enable me to hopefully put in my WiFi key which I presume I need to do? I bought a book on Saturday from the Kindle Store, and when I turned on the speech, I saw my book was there. Well call me completely stupid, I don't mind, but how did the book end up on the KK without my WiFi key being put in? Thanks for any help, and apologies for appearing to be rather ignorant. Once you've powered it on, hold down the Shift key at the bottom left and tap the Spacebar. You won't hear anything, but if you let go of the Shift key, wait a second or two and then press DownArrow, you should hear it.
