Yes the A key is where you said. 2nd row down, extreme left.
You book will have arrived by Amazon Whispernet 3G. It will
automatically do this if there is a good phone signal. Hence you
don't need to be in a wireless hotspot, just a mobile phone area where
3G can be received.

Believe it or not, my Kindle Keyboard has today arrived, and I have
managed to follow your quick instructions for turning it on.
Thanks George for the brilliant tour you provided in your Email which
helped me enormously to familiarise myself before powering it up.
I do have a couple of questions though please?
On a standard qwerty keyboard, the caps lock is always to the left of
the letter a. As the home keys on the KK are not marked because of
their size, could someone please tell me if the letter a is to the
extreme left on the third row up from the bottom on the KK? Knowing
this will enable me to hopefully put in my WiFi key which I presume I
need to do?
I bought a book on Saturday from the Kindle Store, and when I turned
on the speech, I saw my book was there. Well call me completely
stupid, I don't mind, but how did the book end up on the KK without my
WiFi key being put in?
Thanks for any help, and apologies for appearing to be rather
ignorant.

There is an easy way to start the Kindle menus talking. Once you've
powered it on, hold down the Shift key at the bottom left and tap the
Spacebar. You won't hear anything, but if you let go of the Shift key,
wait a second or two and then press DownArrow, you should hear it.

Jackie this is how I got my kindle talking.
first switch on by moving the switch to the right.
wait for ten seconds.
now press the key at the top on the right hand side of your keyboard.
now press down arrow ten times and you will be at the bottom of the
list experimental.
press up arrow once to settings.
press enter.
now press page down which takes you to the second page of settings now
press enter and it should talk email offlist I will ring you to go
through it.
