I think your hub, no matter how you go, has to be approved by BT.
Also, the home hub wireless router comes with the BT hub phone on
which you can make cheap internet calls.

Hi Husna,
The BT hub will support both wired and wireless connection to the
net. I'm totally blind and managed to set it up on my own recently
but it isn't that easy to identify some of the buttons on the BT set
up cd, luckily I had a demo of window eyes which helped in that
respect but jaws did read the rest so got there in the end.
1. With the home hub you will recieve a filter which simply plugs
into the phone socket you wish to use, then using the cable provided
connect the hub to the filter .
2. then connect your phone to the filter, then connect the pc
ethernet cable to both pc and the hub ( if you wish a wired
connection) and follow the prompts on the set up cd, I'm assuming BT
have switched on the broad band on your line?
You will need to know such info as your password, e mail address etc.

I know it sounds complicated but it was straightforward enough,
however for peace of mind and easyness and you can afford it then the
BT engineer is not a bad idea.

good luck!

Alistair

Hi,

when setting up bt wireless broad band is it best to pay a bt
engineer to do the job or is it quite simple for a person to set it
up themselves? if we get the engineers to come would they just set
up the bt wireless hub or would they be okay with setting us up with
another hub such as from net gear if that is better?
is the bt hub and service accessible for a blind person? and also
does the bt hub support both wired and wireless internet connections?

thanks, Husna
