Exactly, Steve.
For example I recently bouht The Beach Boys with the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra; this title is too long to go in one strip across the top of the CD
cover, so I’d much prefer a label which I could put into my Perkins Brailler
and type one line underneath the other.
I am also sending Christmas presents to blind friends and want to put a braille
label on the outside wishing them a happy Christmas and saying who the gift is
from, again, too long for one continuous strip.
Also, using the Dymo labeller is incredibly fiddly and slow and great care
needs to be taken as it is not always easy to see which letter will come out.
So, why are there scores, or at least lots, of different labels for the Pen
Friend and just these Perkins-sized self-adhesive sheets for braille users?
What about deafblind people? Where is the choice?

Hi Alison.
Not sure if they are still generally available but we have a steel frame that
slots into the perkins brailler. Before slotting into place, you can pull a
length of dymo label tape and it will lock firmly in place in the frame. You
then simply braille out the lable.
The braille is therefore always good and you only have to cut the dymo tape
down to the length you want after brailling.
You would have to line them up as you stick them on if you want multiple lines
and it’s more economic to braille two labels at once as the strip is obviously
40 cells long and most labels don’t need that much horizontally but we always
found it better than the old and almost disposable after a few uses dymo
labellers.

I’m flabberghasted!
I rang RNIB this afternoon to order cd-sized self-adhesive labels, as I have
run out.
Not only don’t they sell these anymore, but they also don’t sell virtually any
others either. for example the long strips or the sheet of 4 or 6 labels. The
only self-adhesive labels they now sell are a Perkins-sized sheet.
I label my CDs, my herbs and a myriad of other things. Am I really going to
have to cut bits off Perkins-sized sheets in future?
