Dave, Shame we can't get QVC to put it on as TSV!

Robert

I think your son's point about the appearance of braille watches is a val=
id one. I happened to be watching QVC shopping channel yesterday and not=
ed watches selling at =A3500 which they regarded as inexpensive. It did =
occur to me that this made the vibrating watch appear more reasonably pri=
ced.

Hi Alex,

Many years ago, I bought one of the first quartz Braille watches from RNI=
B at a cost of =A350. I shudder to think of what it would be now. I was q=
uite pleased with it. My son had recently bought a new Rolex costing over=
=A31,000. When he saw my new watch he said, "why should people have to p=
ut up with that sort of rubbish just because they are blind?" When I aske=
d what he meant, he said, "it looks naf and no sighted person with any r=
espect for their appearance would be seen dead wearing it.

I think perhaps a lot of us don't realise just how important appearances =
are to many people with normal vision. They feel that watches aren't just=
for telling the time, they also say something about the people wearing t=
hem.

Best.

Robert.

An awful lot of people do! I think it's important to realise that watche=
s particularly from RNIB are subsidised, and we don't pay what they cost!=

Who in their right mind would pay that sort of money for a watch?
