Richard This is highly unlikely. 3/5 jacks come in two forms: Mono and stereo. the usual is stereo having three connections, sleeve, ring and tip. Sleeve acts as ground/earth, ring and tip being the signal lines. With a mono, there is no ring. By drawing the finger nail along the sleeve from the body of the jack plug, you will detect the ring as their will be a dip at the position of the insulating ring, then the ring itself, and then a further insulating ring before coming to the dip prior to the plug tip. Usually the impedance is 32 or less ohms, and the typical for a line in/out would be about 600 ohms, hence a massive mis-match which would give rise to hum and distortion. I've never been able to work out whether this doubles as an in as well as a line out. Any ideas? Yes, as soon as I unplug the mike the sound comes back, I've checked the sound card and the volume is set to 100%, mute is off and the default audio output source is Realtek so its definitely not tampered with my sound settings. Wonder if anyone can help here. I recently purchased the Blue Microphones Tiki USB microphone for my new Samsung laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. Whenever i plug the microphone in to my computer, all sounds including system and screen reader simply stop. I have tried to figure out what the problem might be but with little success. I have tried connecting an external sound card to restore speech while the microphone is plugged in, I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the device using device manager, nothing is doing. If anyone has a solution to this problem then please advise, otherwise this microphone is going straight back to Amazon. All the best, Ibrahim. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
