Hi Steve -

Thanks for this. Just been looking, and can't figure out how to remove apps
from the apps switcher? Also opened my podcast app [Apples own] and there
appears to be no way to set it to download only when wi-fi is available.
However, I have been downloading podcasts manually, rather than subscribing and
have them download automatically, so maybe that's why I'm not seeing a wi-fi
only download option? -

  Hi Andy,

No, pressing home is not enough. Make sure the apps are not in the app
switcher.

Also, make sure that apps such as podcast clients are set to download over
wifi only when away.

  All the best

  Hi Steve and all -

So, when I next go abroad with my iPhone, I'll want roaming on at times, so
how can I be sure that twitter and podcasts don't download? It appears with the
iPhone the apps are closed until they are double tapped and they open, but is
pressing the home button for the home screen, enough to close the app and
prevent sneaky downloads? -

    Hi,

Simple. She had her phone set for roaming, and it did what it was told.

If you have apps running in the background, like podcast clients, or
Facebook even, or Twitter, they are all downloading.

    All the best

    Hi all -

There was a thing on Money Box this week about a loyer who ran up a bill
with T-Mobile, for £750 when in Australia, because her phone was downloading
data without her being aware of it. I was left wondering how this might happen?
Anybody know? -
