Many thanks. I did check my recycle bin, but it hadn't gone there. I don't
like playing with system restore too much in case I lose something I have
recently done that I still want. However, I was able to create a shortcut
using the method you and Peter outlined.

Many thanks.

Wendy

first of all go into your recycle bin, it should be there. or if you havent
made any major changes since you deleated it, , you could use system
restore. it will bring back your shortcut.

failing that you need to go into your programmes folder and then into the
internet explorer folder and find the exe file.

heres the steps.

go into my computer

select local drive c

arrow down to find programme files and hit enter to go into the folder

arrow down to find internet explorer and hit enter to enter the folder.

arrow down to find the file, explore.exe and make a shortcut to this file.

it may place it in the folder you are in, if it does it will be called
shortcut to internet explorer.

just move this shortcut to your desktop by cutting and pasting it into and
out of your clip board.

you can then rename it if you wish when it is on your desktop.

hope this helps

place the shortcut on your desktop.

I don't know how I did it, but I appear to have deleted the shortcut to
Internet Explorer on my desktop. It isn't a real problem, as pressing
windows key, P and I launches it ok, but I usually prefer to launch things
from the desktop.

Looking through programs on the start menu, I can't find a way to send a
shortcut to the desktop. Pressing the applications key does nothing, and if
you press alt that just takes you away from the start menu. I should know
this, as I have been using JAWS for years, but could some kind soul remind
me how to create a desktop shortcut for any program.

Many thanks.
