Our council pay nothing they don't have to and certainly won't fund us for books, even though I've seen some good arguments here on list recently!

David, my situation is exactly the same as yours. The local authority only paid for existing members of talking books so when I tried to join, no chance. I paid my own subscription for the book stream service and it will be my responsibility to pay the overdrive subscription when it becomes due. Best of luck to those who manage to get their subs paid for but certainly not me, and not David either it would seem.
