Many thanks to you all for your comments; they were most helpful. I was with BT
few years ago and I hated them; that’s how I moved to PlusNet in the first
place. Ed alerted me to the fact that I can get BT Sport through PlusNet rather
than through BT itself (stupid of me not to have thought of it). I rang PlusNet
and here are the answers I got:
You can get the four BT Sport channels on your Sky box for £9.99 a month (12.99
a month for the HD ones). BT wanted to charge me £19.99 a month to get them on
my Sky box if I don’t switch ISP. Alternatively with PlusNet you can subscribe
to their TV package if you don’t have Sky and get BT Sport as part of the deal
but I’m afraid I can’t remember prices.
It’s true that customer support lines are open between 7.30am-10.00pm for home
users these days. For businesses though it is still 24 7. The guy I spoke to
said that he wasn’t sure if this was permanent or it is only a temporary
arrangement and they would go back to 24 7 for home users in the future. Still,
at least you know that someone who’s decent and knows what he is talking about
will answer your call during these hours and your problem will get sorted.
I’ve now subscribed to BT Sport through PlusNet and I’m sticking with them to
preserve my sanity as Mo said!
Thanks all once more for your help.

Hi Amro.
BT are still one of the bottom suppliers in the UK in terms of customer
satisfaction, or at least they were when i looked at surveys a few months back.
I much prefer plus net over BT. the business division of talk talk isn't bad
either which is who we're with now. I'd stick with plus net if you want to hang
on to your sanity and your hair!
cheers,
Mo.

Hi Amro,
As a fellow Plusnet and BT Sport subscriber I sympathise. It’s particularly
galling as BT own Plusnet.
I’d sound a word of caution about BT Internet: If you do switch and want to
use many Freelists mailing lists, you may want to use a third party email
provider, as many BT subscribers appear to have no end of problems with
Freelists. I think this is because of BT’s tie-up with Yahoo Mail.
I see you have your own domain but I haven’t looked to see if you are routing
mail via Plusnet.
Cheers,
Ed

Hello all,
I’m with PlusNet and I’d have to say I’m very happy with their services
especially their UK based customer support centres. However, to get BT Sport
channel at a reasonable price it would seem that I have to switch ISP to BT.
So, what do people think of BT internet generally please? Is their after sale
support still utterly useless or have they improved. Many thanks.
