I’m afraid the argument that apple is buggy at the moment is rather
short-termist. the fact remains that they have made the sound business
decision to embed access solutions right across their product range at no extra
cost to end users who can choose to use them or not. IOS 8.1 is a significant
improvement on the original upgrade which probably was rushed out before its
time. The Apple approach not only makes business sense to them but also is
inclusive in ways no other manufacturers are. In terms of disability politics
it puts us on what are very close to level terms and enables us to make
choices. What’s more, i’ve reported the one really significant issue I’ve had
with Yosemite direct to apple’s accessibility team and had a direct reply from
them saying thanks and that they’re on it. Sniping about bugs really fails to
address the big issues we face as disabled consumers.
