I disagree with you here. The problem is if you make this list a free for
all about anything, you wear out the delete key. There are lists like Vigen
that could carry stuff like coffee machines.

Stop doing yourself down mate. We all have limitations in one way or
another, that is the whole point of forming a community list like this one.
For what it is worth, and this is just my own view, there is a delete key if
people don't want to follow a specific thread. I haven't followed the
coffee machines topic either because I am not in the market for one, and
hardly ever drink it anyway. But I have just deleted those messages.
The problem is that you end up subscribing to different lists for the topic
you are looking for, and it then means your inbox is overcrowded and
overwhelmed with other subjects not relevant to you.
But whatever the moderator wants to do is his choice, and we either accept
the terms and conditions or bugger off! (smile.)

I tend to agree with George, but one of the most useful things I found of
late was the advice here on operating central heating.
This is a genuine question, if I hadn't found it here which list would
have carried this?
