Hi Jim.Yes, Audible is one of the supported formats, I don't use a Victor Stream myself, however I understood that in the older generation of the player, a softpack was required to unlock enhanced Audible playback, I sincerely hope that this is no longer the case with the new model.
All the best, Ibrahim.-----Original Message----- From: Jim McAuslan

My question for now is whether or not the new VRS can play audible titles. Jim Mc On 09/02/2014 12:39, Jackie Brown wrote:

Pele and Steve, yes indeed the local BBC stations are available on otherdevices, and will show up on a search of the ootunes web site database, but,in the case of BBC Radio Ulster, the broadcast stream is in the WMA format, which the VRS cannot play, so when you search for it, you won't get aresult. If you are unable to find a station local to you on the VRS, googlethe stream format, and if it is anything, other than WMA, then you can look for it on the ootunes site, and if it is not there, the station request formis easy to negotiate. I'm also intending to contact Humanware again tomorrow, just to be nosey, *smile*. For anyone interested, David Russell's Stream list is still going, and despite google groups trying to trick me, with David's help, I got signed up. The correct details are below. victorstreamuk+subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Regards. But I know it is a feature many would like, and if they have made it possible tostream Internet radio, then podcasts shouldn't be difficult. I must say that the Sonata database is great in that respect, and if there isn't a station or podcast feed on it you want, Luke or David make sure it is added. The VRS will be even more interesting when we can download books. I was wondering about the Companion software, as I read on the Humanware site, via the F A Q, that if you used the software that you would be able to search for stations eccetra. So Idownloaded the software, and found nothing to help with the radio. Perhaps we should compile a wee wish list for future implementation through upcomingupdates. If anyone has anything they would like to see added, bring your thoughts forth. 1. Addition of WMA streaming capabilities. 2. Addition of station manipulation in the favourites. 3. Ability to download podcasts. I'm not much into podcasts myself, so I'm going by your say so, *smile*, unless of course, someone knows different, then speak up. I know there is a VRS list for America, does anyone happen to know if we have one this side of the pond? Regards. Jim. -----Original Message----- From: Jackie Brown Sent: Saturday, February 08, 2014 8:51 AM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Latest update to Victor Stream Hi Jim We played around with OoTunes a little last night on the VRS. I could not work out a way of putting my Favourites in order, so if this is possible, perhaps someone could enlighten us? Personally, I prefer TuneIn Radio for searching stations, I wish HumanWarehad used this instead of OoTunes, but it is a minor thought. I really likethe Internet service on the product, it is pretty quick. There doesn'tappear to be a way of downloading podcasts yet either, and I wonder why sucha popular feature was not included in the update, always assuming I have missed it? The answer I was given was, some radio streams are done in wma format, and theVRS cannot play these, it will only play streams in mp3, or aac formats. Ifyou are after a particular station, that does not appear in the ootunes database, if you google to find out the type of media stream that it isbroadcasting in, you will be able to determine if the VRS will even be ableto receive it, before you ask for it to be added to the database.. Hope this clarifies things a little. Regards. I have also beenunable to find some local radio stations. There is an option to import stations from an ootunes file but I haven't worked out how to do this yet.
