Hi Clive.

I would open your file in notepad, word may mess up the formatting. Paste the following lines at the end of the file, making sure there's no blank line between the commands.

commandradio ffmpeg -i "<filename>" -c:v copy -c:a libmp3lame -b:a 128k -id3v2_version 3 -write_id3v1 1 -y "<dir>/<fileprefix>.mp3" && del "<filename>"

As long as the above command is on a blank line, it should work to convert automatically.

Cheers,

Mo.

Hi Mo,

I tried this.

First, when selecting the options file, it asks me how I want to open the folder, giving me choices from Notepad through to internet explorer (of all things. Opening it in word, I hear ‘Picture view’ and nothing else. Opening it in Notepad or Wordpad, the only text I can find in the entire file says:

output D:\documents\downloaded Radio

I thought a recent update of Get_Iplayer no longer allowed you to convert as part of the download process.

So, where do I find the text to edit, to change the “M4A” to “MP3” as you described. Doesn’t look as though it’s in the options file I found within .get_Iplayer

Thanks,

Clive

Hi Keith.

You would need to edit your options file. It's in the .get_iplayer folder in your user profile folder. My options file looks like the following.

fileprefix <name> - <episode>
commandradio ffmpeg -i "<filename>" -c:v copy -c:a libmp3lame -b:a 128k -id3v2_version 3 -write_id3v1 1 -y "<dir>/<fileprefix>.mp3" && del "<filename>"
nopurge 1
subdir 1
This tells get_iplayer to convert each file it downloads from M4a to MP3.

I hope that helps?

Cheers,

Mo.
