Hi Jackie.

Its faulty usually works, the people in Argos don't give two hoots, so long as its in original condition and doesn't look used otherwise they might cotton on to the fact.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Yes, I don't think the prices differ greatly. Living in a village, going
online is best for us, so it's as well to be the Apple store as anywhere
else, and their delivery service is very quick. I believe John Lewis sell
the Apple range, and everything with them carries a two-year guarantee, so
maybe that's worth considering. They will also give you hands-on like the
Apple store in all probability. I note with Argos that anything with
storage capacity doesn't carry a 30-day money back guarantee, so if you buy
and don't like, you would need a hard and fast reason for returning it to
them.

Hi Carol,

The price is very much the same where ever you buy the ipod. Thou before
Christmas Argos was selling the ipod touch 32 gb for £20 less that the Apple
store.

OK, I do understand that Brian but don't know exactly where they're sold and
was surprised to learn about Argos.

Is there much difference in price as you look around and any way of finding
the prices from these different stores, please?

Jackie,

I'm getting more and more hooked. Just can't quite decide whether to
go for phone or the Ipod Touch. Strangely enough, we are also looking
at Bose systems right now and I'm thinking of Bose speakers for my
computer system which is away from the main stereo.
Anyway, I now fully understand the difference between these two so
shall be looking, though am disappointed as we don't have an Apple
store very near at all.

Hi Carol

With the iPod Touch, as long as you put your broadband security key
in, you will be able to treat it like a PC online, where you can
download material and browse the Internet. What you can't obviously

do is make calls etc, because the phone part is not included. But,
as I've said several times, the phone isn't the bit I want as I am
happy with the handsets and Talks I use. I just love the iPod Touch
for the applications it can work with. At the moment, for example,
I have put my device through a set of Bose speakers, and am
listening to Five Live Sports Extra so I can hear the tennis.
Quality is very
good
and no drop-out or stuttering.

Jackie,

I never realised you could do so much with the Ipod Touch. I hadn't
thought about it going online, though I should, knowing that Apples
stuff works with ITunes, and I certainly hadn't thought about it
being able to run these other apps.

Very interesting, for sure!

So, does anyone know if all apps work across the board on their
equipment? Just interested in how things work.

My Apple keyboard arrived yesterday, and pairing it with my iPod
Touch was extremely straightforward. So I decided to visit the App
Store and, for 59p each, I bought four applications that work with
VoiceOver. They are the World Fact Book 2011, a dictionary and
thesaurus, Tune In Radio and, probably my favourite, Birds of
Britain. The latter is an amazing little program if you love bird
sound and details. Not only can you play the song, but you can
listen to VoiceOver provide a description of their size, colour,
family, time of year etc. There is also a favourites button to use
where you can add a library of your favourite birds to it.

Tune In Radio is great. Similarly, there is a bookmark facility
where you can make a list of the stations you wish to add. Because

I love tennis, and the Australian Open is on at the moment, I have
great difficulty getting it on DAB as we have such a diabolical
signal in these parts. So when I tuned in using the Sonata at 8.00
this morning, a message said that restricted rights prevented
coverage. I find this often happens at weekends when football
matches are in progress too.
So I tuned my iPod to Sports Extra and, low and behold, got the
tennis on live.

All the above apps work with VoiceOver. I don't use my keyboard
for everything, mainly when I get into tricky areas that need a bit

of typing. Mostly, I use my fingers and have got used to doing so
now.

Just thought I'd pass on the info.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns
