Hi Andy.

In that case, why not select the whole library, create a playlist and then backup the playlist?

If you had to add your whole music collection again, at least you could restore the playlist which could then be used to sync with an iPhone or iPod.

I'm making an assumption that this is why you have limited the music you've imported into iTunes in the first place.

Regards.

Kevin

Hi Pauline -

I've got a physical back up of all of my music. It's just that I have
created the iTunes library, as a selection from my total music collection,
and wanted to protect the library against anything happening to this
machine, causing me to start again, on a new computer. If that happened, I
wouldn't want to have to create this library again, from my entire music
collection. So, it's not about backing up the actual music, but the library
that points to the location for the desired music files -

Hello Andy,

I am sure others on list may have handier tips. I back up Itunes music by copying them onto a flash drive. I use Windows exp, Jaws 8.

I go into my documents; my music..ITunes and then into itunes media and then copy.

Hope this is of some help.

Subject: [access-uk] Exporting the iTunes library

Hi all -

Anybody help me understand the purpose of this? As there is no import option on the iTunes menu for the library, what is the purpose of exporting it?

I haven't played around with iCloud, but would like to back up the music library, just in case, and would like really, just to be able to export it, and keep it safe on an external drive, there to import, if anything goes wrong on this machine. As there is no import option, what is the point then of being able to export it, and is backing up to iCloud the only way to create a back up of the library? I've already done a lot of cherry picking for the library, as I have loads of duplicate tracks from compilation albums, and now I have it the way I want it, wish to protect it. Any help?

Thanks -

Andy
