Regarding the first part of your comment, I do not want to share any info like
the updated hardware specs and new upgrade path and so on, until something is
released and I have dates on which I can commit on. I don't think it is the
right way of working with people.
Regarding your second part, we are working with intel on a completely new
concept when it comes to notetakers and upgradability, that is why it takes
time.
Also, when we released ElBraille, we really did not have anything better we can
use.
We did not have a board that is small enough to allow us to have craisy specs
and excellent 20 hour battery life, while we fit the Focus, and at the same
time keep everything cool and not warm inside.
Regarding everything people told me personally that needs improvement, we will
make sure that the next version and the ones after it, fulfill these requests.
This is another reason it takes us time and not as fast as we wanted to do it.
I really hope that soon you will feel differently.

I am grateful for your input but might I make two observations:
Firstly: you promise an upcoming improvement, jam tomorrow not Jam today.
You shroud this in secrecy: why?
This group could have terrific input.
Secondly: the unit isn't working as well as people hoped.
Perhaps this is because our expectations are too high, or your sales team have
overstated its capacity.
Yes it is great news about the ability to upgrade but I don't want a unit which
at this time is useless.
If I could have a 14 or 40 cell Widows 10 computer which worked I would be so
happy.

Isn't it shameful that stuff like this is being sold to people by apparently

Hi Jackie, Sadly, having owned an ElBraille 14 for a year now, I have to
agree with everything you write. Another issue is that you can't put it in
a 'sleep' state ready to use quickly when needed. It takes forever
sometimes to boot up and I find it can lock up when updating or booting up.

I think it's ok if you just want to do very basic things with it. Remember
that ElBraille is essentially a Compute Stick in a box with some
modifications to make it accessible with a Braille display and JAWS. But
with only 2gb of RAM and such a tiny hard drive, it's hard to imagine
ElBraille in its current guise being able to keep up with Windows and
Office updates. I love the concept as I am an out and out Windows user,
but it really lacks memory. To be honest, I took it and my U2 to Scotland
earlier this year because I wanted to see how they compared for Email and
reading documents. Honestly? The U2 won hands down. By the time I booted
up ElBraille and opened Outlook to fetch my messages, I was already reading
them on the U2. And when I wanted to open Word to do some writing, I could
just turn on the U2, open its word processor and start hammering away. So
I popped ElBraille back into my luggage and continued using the U2. What
does that tell you?

Sounds like yet another example of a blind tech product being sent to
market before it's the finished article. With this and other devices the
main aim appears to be for companies to maximise cash flow by selling stuff
as early as possible. Some of us had a similar experience with another
product which was let loose on the blind public before it was anywhere
fully ready which some might argue it isn't even now, some years after its
original release.

Support is awful to be honest. You have to wait for an
unacceptable length of time to get through and, when you do, your problem

ElBraille has a small drive which is split between the onboard
memory and an SD card that is fitted internally. It means that
this is not a proper version of Windows 10, because you can't
restore it, and there are ElBraille folders on it that make

I also have concerns about the long term partnership of Elita Group
with VFO Group. There always seems to be a problem with what is
coming out, what is pure conjecture, and who supports what.

thing and remove my details so it was clean to sell on. I couldn't
perform a clean Windows restore or install because Elita haven't
included the image to do this in the package.
So, all in all, steer well clear for now. I'm not saying it won't
happen in the future, but the fact there is such an incredible
delay tells me there are issues, so I don't think it's viable.
This is such a great pity as I had hoped that a portable Windows 10
device would be really useful. Not so for me at least!

Frankly, I was under whelmed by the people showing it.
My fear about it is, will it be another bit of kit which will be
obsolescent within a couple of years?
Also is the spec good enough run at less than a snails pace?
I am also waiting for the 40 cell version where the display will be
removeable.
