Hello,
Thanks for your comments.
Regarding the incorrect write-up in the documentation, this is something I
fixed myself with contact with VFo. We should have updated software with
correct write-up of included stuff. I agree with you on this, I'll better
manage it.
Regarding instructions you got for restoring the unit, I don't know what
instructions you got form the dealer but we have steps that are for sure
working and can be performed by blind people.
We always recommend people, that if something is not understandable, contact us
at:

usually I am the one who answers if it's a technical question, and I'm always
giving correct information and trying to help.
We are here, and want to see how can we improve. I respect your onnest comments
and will work for resolving them in the nearest future.
Adi.

Hi Adi
Thank you for responding.
I don't want, nor expect, to be using the very latest technology in a small
device. To expect this isn't realistic given the time it takes to develop a
product, market it, then start work on the next gadget.
But you and I both know that ElBraille, in its current guise, is a low spec
Compute Stick in a box. Despite the documentation for UK customers, it did not
come with a restore card. I had to send mine back to the UK dealer to have it
completely restored before I could sell it on. There was no card in the box,
and the instructions I was given to attempt a restore myself were inaccurate!
Yet I could restore a computer or laptop on my own, whereas this is just not
possible on ElBraille.
So here is the example of the collaboration not working properly, because the
dealer told me that the documentation mentioning a card with restore files on
it was only for the Russian market. Sorry, but this, in my book, is not
acceptable.
Anyway, at the risk of getting kicked off the list for being open and honest, I
would ask for greater transparency between both suppliers, and that's before we
even start talking about the components in the box!
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi all,
First of all, sometimes as users, we want to always get the latest and greatest
hardware, and I get that. I'm a user of this myself.
But what I've learned as a developer of this hardware, it's not possible to
have everything as fast as we want it to.
We are working on an entirely new concept with Intel, that is why it takes this
long.
If we did something fast now, ElBraille will not be future proof as we want it
to.
We want to save your causts as users, at the same time, offering good upgrade
options each time.
We think that once we will release, you will like our work.
I will have dates to share soon.
First, I did not say this for years. The history goes as follows:

Hi Jeff and Adi
Jeff, I think you are absolutely correct. Adi, you have been saying for years,
not months, that ElBraille will improve. There has to be some
misrepresentation here, because the UK dealer and Elita Group seem to be at
odds with their information.
I had hoped that ElBraille would be a portable Windows 10 solution with
Braille. Sadly, it is nothing more than a Compute Stick in a box worth a
couple of hundred quid at most. When you actually spend time using it, the
machine just can't handle Office applications. It's fine if you just want it
for "light" duties, nothing more, despite the hype.
I wish with all my heart and soul that there was something on the market that
would allow me to use Windows 10 with Office applications, Internet browsing
etc, with Braille, that doesn't cost a fortune or falls over because the
configuration is so limited.
And, if I am being completely blunt but not disrespectful, Adi, I don't like
the collaboration between VFO and Elita Group, too much can go wrong where the
end user, like myself, suffers! Thanks but no thanks!
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Adi
I am just about to buy a new unit.
So I asked on this list for help.
I am not an expert; I lost my sight late in life.
This list is a life saver for people like me.
This group has hands on experience and knowledge.
I am grateful for your input but might I make two observations:
Firstly: you promise an upcoming improvement, jam tomorrow not Jam today.
You shroud this in secrecy: why?
This group could have terrific input.
Secondly: the unit isn't working as well as people hoped.
Perhaps this is because our expectations are too high, or your sales team have
overstated its capacity.
Yes it is great news about the ability to upgrade but I don't want a unit which
at this time is useless.
If I could have a 14 or 40 cell Widows 10 computer which worked I would be so
happy.
Regards
Jeff

problem isn't often resolved.
Hi Jeff
Here's mine then.
At first glance, and when you don't have many applications running
on it, ElBraille is not bad. But once you start using Office, or
other applications that are bulky and memory hungry, forget it!
Support is awful to be honest. You have to wait for an
unacceptable length of time to get through and, when you do, your

ElBraille has a small drive which is split between the onboard
memory and an SD card that is fitted internally. It means that
this is not a proper version of Windows 10, because you can't
restore it, and there are ElBraille folders on it that make
formatting and restoring hard to do without sighted assistance.
I also have concerns about the long term partnership of Elita Group
with VFO Group. There always seems to be a problem with what is
coming out, what is pure conjecture, and who supports what.
I sold mine earlier this year. Before I could, however, I had to
return it to S and S for some kind person there to reset the whole
thing and remove my details so it was clean to sell on. I couldn't
perform a clean Windows restore or install because Elita haven't
included the image to do this in the package.
So, all in all, steer well clear for now. I'm not saying it won't
happen in the future, but the fact there is such an incredible
delay tells me there are issues, so I don't think it's viable.
This is such a great pity as I had hoped that a portable Windows 10
device would be really useful. Not so for me at least!
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

I have seen ELBRAILLE, 14 that is, at a couple of the exhibitions.
Frankly, I was under whelmed by the people showing it.
My fear about it is, will it be another bit of kit which will be
obsolescent within a couple of years?
Also is the spec good enough run at less than a snails pace?
I am also waiting for the 40 cell version where the display will be
removeable.
although I can't now remember why!!
I notice that on this list nobody has mentioned it much!
Would love to hear some views!
Cheers
Jeff
