Hi Tristram,

Thanks for that. It looks like a better choice. My own hearing is impaired by tinnitus but my wife reckons hers is pretty good, so she will decide if it comes up to scratch.

Best.

Robert.

Check out the the Gemini 11 from Robetts and have a listen, if it sounds
good to you and it's in your budget then this has inbuilt transformer, I
checked the manual.

Hi Tristram,

Now you've put me off this model. I don't much care for the idea of having
the transformer outside the cabinet. We'll take a look at what's in the
shops.

Best.

Evoke 2 is not a bad choice, it feels solid and can be run off batteries,
though it's a little thirsty. My only criticism of the Evoke 2 apart from
the fact the FM is not the best is that it uses of wall wart transformer
when there is plenty of room in the case for an interneal transformer.

Hi Tristram,

Many thanks for your reply.

I fancy the Pure Evoke 2 and will try to get a look at it. My wife saw a
nice looking Roberts radio in Curry's a few weeks ago that might have been
the Gemini model you mentioned but she didn't get the number. I'll let her
decide which one she wants, then if anything goes wrong, I might not get
it
in the neck. <grin>

Best.

Cannot go too far wrong with the Pure Evoke 1 or 2, the latter is stereo
and
hence a little larger which I have. There are a variety of Roberts
portables about, I particularly like the look of Gemini 11 which has
facility to pause the DAB radio broadcast for up to 30 minutes. I
haven't
heard of it, but it's resemblance to 70s style Roberts is aesthetically
rather nice.

I don't think that any current DAB radios are much different in
operation.
Perhaps look for a large number of presets to make station selection
easier.

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to buy my wife a DAB radio for Christmas. Something with good
quality sound that she can carry from room to room in the house and not
too
complicated to operate.

Any recommendations?

Best.

Robert.
