Evoke 2 is not a bad choice, it feels solid and can be run off batteries, 
though it's a little thirsty.  My only criticism of the Evoke 2 apart from 
the fact the FM is not the best is that it uses of wall wart transformer 
when there is plenty of room in the case for an interneal transformer.

Many thanks for your reply.

I fancy the Pure Evoke 2 and will try to get a look at it. My wife saw a
nice looking Roberts radio in Curry's a few weeks ago that might have been
the Gemini model you mentioned but she didn't get the number. I'll let her
decide which one she wants, then if anything goes wrong, I might not get it
in the neck. <grin>
