You're right Roke. Though we spent too much time over target because of my seat change problem, us bombers left before the bandits arrived. You fighters should have been able to look after yourselves.
Stickz is thinking like the unescorted singleton bomber he often is.

Well, I'm only qualified to comment about the escort side of things... And to be fair, I'd rather see some action than have a clean getaway, even if it's not operationally ideal. So I'll accept a longer time over the target if I get a good fight as a result. Emphasis on 'good' not 'hopeless' mind you... I also like to rtb as my #1 priority 😉

My view on the La5s range is based on anecdotal evidence that with a full lean mixture, it has quite long legs. I have not tested this in any kind of scientific way though, so may be mistaken. I'll try and test it properly at some point. Even if I'm wrong about that, flying La5s on Wednesday would have enabled us to a) force the enemy to start turning, and likely kill them as a result; or b) increase the probability that they would have declined to chase us south east as we were basically un-catchable.

Having said all that, Colin's point about the scenario is completely right... Pod and I were shot down on Wednesday because we didn't pick up the enemy fighters following us, and I at least had relaxed a little as a result. That wasn't the Spitfires fault.

Tbh, I don’t know.
He told me it was the cable. When looking right the screen goes black...

Thats 6mins, plus time for early warning to come up on ingress, and for us to get 15km away another couple. 8minutes, at 500kph puts us under threat from anything within 37miles/60kms. Even knocking off the 2.5mins whilst phoenix got out the back seat thats too long.
