Thanks for the good hints here. But I wonder if this is what I need to do. Here's why: The problem actually begins *after* the startup sequence is done. The computer starts just fine. It waits until I do something else -- like open my mail program and try to get the mail. I'll take a look -- nothing has changed on my system since I started having the problem -- I hope I find something off.
