Greetings all, I went to Bradford beach to photograph the Western Sandpiper yesterday. With other birders, it wasn't to hard to find since there was only the Western Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpipers, Gulls, and a Lapland Longspur to view. Rick Fare from Racine was there to assure identification, since the Western Sandpiper had a visual white patch on the back, said to be a seasonal change. The Lapland Longspur was a surprise to see as it quickly passed through heading north. I had photographed a Lapland Longspur at about this same time at Lakeshore State Park. Since no-one has reported the Lapland Longspur, photos can be seen at: http://thebirdpoint.wordpress.com/category/lapland-longspur/ It was good to see birders out at Bradford Beach and Lake Park again. There were a few Warblers and discussions at Lake Park, that is always interesting. Have a good day.
