John,
Yes, they do indeed offer that advice. However, the sort is not on the Layout
ribbon in Office 2016. I did not make any conscious changes to my version of
Office and so I have no reason to think that my ribbons should be different
from anyone else's!
As I said in my previous message, you do, indeed, have to place your cursor
anywhere in the table you wish to sort. You then need to go to the Home ribbon
and tab along that until you come to "Paragraph grouping" and find that the
sixth item on the ribbon is "Sort" .
Have you tried the instruction advising the "Layout" ribbon as the location of
the Sort option? As you say, that is the advice given everywhere so it must be
the most common. I have no idea why my situation should be different!
By the way, my Office suite Version is: 16.0.11727.20244
I will write to Microsoft and see what they have to say about this difference.
I'll let you know if they can explain it.
All the best,
Cearbhall

Hi Cearbhall,
The MS web page says:
Click inside the table to show Table Tools in the ribbon, and then click Layout
Sort.
