My supervisor and I met a Snowy Owl one snowy evening in the Umpqua National Forest in about 1980. Have you seen injured wildlife in Douglas County? Please go to : http://umpquawildliferescue.org/ or call 541 440-6895 Thank you for caring! There have been about 4 different birds during December and January. One can search the archives of Oregon Birders On Line (OBOL), at //www.freelists.org/archive/obol/ for more information (easiest to click on a month, then CTRL-F and type in snowy to search). I wish one would fly down here! Matt On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 7:35 PM, <jeoreid@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Super. Glad you had a wonderful and memorable time. 10 years ago. Yikes, my memory is not as good as yours. Owls are just really cool. I was wondering if everyone saw that a Snowy Owl was seen Jan 22 at the West Eugene wetlands? Since I just joined, I don’t know if this already circulated.Janice ReidWilbur, OR Sent from Windows Mail From: Bill Utter Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2015 7:28 PM To: umpquabirds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Hi Janice, My Wife and I took a BLM Spotted Owl Hike with you and Patrick and Mary Starnes out in Tyee in 2005. It was interesting, educational, and straight up and straight down hiking. We remember it was an experience of a lifetime – holding up the dead mice for the owls to fly over us, and snatch the mice from our hands. As we remember, you had a really great Spotted Owl vocalization that you did. It really brought them in. We still have fond memories of that day. Owls in India is definitely a dream. One I hope to make come true. I probably won't be able to make it this weekend to Reedsport. Too much going on. But I hope to get out with you at some point. Owls are my specialty. I consider myself a moderate birder. I enjoy seeing something new, but don’t go out of my way. Unless you count the time I drove to Bend to see the Hawkowl, or spent nights near Chiloquin looking for the Flammulated owl. Okay, I guess I put a little effort into the birding. But probably not as much as some of you. I live on North Bank Rd, about 3 miles from I-5. Maybe some of you saw me recently when I wondered into your group as you were looking at that couple of Bald Eagles and the Golden.
