Tn-birders, For the past two months or so, I have had wild turkeys in my yard almost daily, numbering from 3 up to the 30,s. Yesterday, 1-23-04 at 8:30am, I looked out and saw turkeys in all directions milling about and feeding on something in short grass as well as tall dead weeds. After counting and recounting, I came up with the number 78. They stayed around about 2.5 hours, finally breaking up into 3 flocks and wandering off. Al least 2 Jakes were strutting around each other, but no adult males. After they were gone, I tried to see what they were eating. In the abscense of anything else, I guessed it to be just short green grass sprouts. Robbie Hassler-Byrdstown, Tn.
