In fact, I've even put the UPD on the list of "not allowed" drivers on our farm in-house. Switching to Thinprint resolved these issues totally. That combined with Rick Mack's little clnspool.bat idea ... I don't EVER have to touch printers. -----Original Message----- From: Ron Oglesby [mailto:roglesby@xxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Friday, April 23, 2004 8:46 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Thin Print vs UPD Well. The UPD from Citrix (I assume that is what you are talking about) has some functionality as far as a UPD. Not bad really. But check out our Printing White paper (Really the printing chapter from our book) Its available from Brian Madden's web site.=20 The UPD from citrix is really a couple of HP Drivers that are used for different types of printers. There's more to it, but its really a fancy driver with a mapping algorithm. The software like thinprint is totally different. Check out the paper it has LONG descriptions of the entire print process. So what are the advantages of Thin Print compared to Citrix Universal Printer driver. Is UPD good enough for "driverless" printing ? Any issues with UPD in large environments ? =20 With regards, Ruben Spruijt ******************************************************** This week's sponsor - Neoware Thin Clients Neoware makes computing open, secure, reliable,=20 affordable, manageable and obsolete-free.=20 Starting at $199!=20 http://www.neoware.com=20 ********************************************************** Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thin.net/links.cfm *********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or=20 set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thin.net/citrixlist.cfm ******************************************************** This week's sponsor - Neoware Thin Clients Neoware makes computing open, secure, reliable,=20 affordable, manageable and obsolete-free.=20 Starting at $199!=20 http://www.neoware.com=20 ********************************************************** Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thin.net/links.cfm *********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or=20 set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thin.net/citrixlist.cfm ******************************************************** This week's sponsor - Neoware Thin Clients Neoware makes computing open, secure, reliable, affordable, manageable and obsolete-free.
