Hi Yes, it depends on how you set up ThinPrint. In some cases, you *don't* = need any client software since you install the "client" on the remote = print server.=20 We have used it for years and it speeds up print jobs on offshore = platforms really well. UPD is an actual print =3D driver that tends to be compatible with a lot of printers and can be used when = =3D the native driver is either not available or is problematic. With UPD, the = =3D print job is still processed on the server with a print driver and then transferred to the client. This means that the transfer to the client is = =3D the fully expanded print output and can be quite large. A Driverless printing solution is able to re-direct the raw print =3D command stream to the client device. At the client device the print driver is = =3D called and used to process and expand the print output. As a result, the amount = =3D of data transferred to the client is far less. In addition, the print =3D driver does not need to reside on the server and many issues are thereby =3D bypassed which often occur on Citrix servers with print drivers.
