[THIN] Re: OT:Removing Exchange 5.5 from 2k enviroment

Like I said, it has been a while. What else does he need to do? If he
is merely taking the server out of the site, I believe that is it. If
he is migrating the email store...then that is a different story...

Actually you need to do a bit more than that. Do a search on migrating
Exchange5.5 to 2000 they have a very good and detailed document on how =
=3D
to do this

If the server is still online in your site, you should be able to delete
=3D it like any other server (unless 5.5 has some freaky interaction =
with
=3D 2000). The only time I've seen problems with deleting a 5.5 server =
is
when it =3D was already physically removed from the site before its
logical pointers had been deleted. If this is the case in your
situation, then some research =3D on MS's site will yeild you the =
answer.
Sorry, its been a couple of years since I've done this little
exercise...so I'm not much help.

I am wondering if anyone still have the document on how to remove the =
=3D
last Exchange 5.5 server from an Exchange 2K domain. I upgraded my 5.5
to a =3D new 2K box but did not delete the 5.5. I am now ready to take
out the 5.5 completely but just shutting down the server does not do it
since in the Exchange System Manager, it still shows the 5.5 server. Any
help will be greatly appreciated.
