The correct way to remove Exchange 5.5 from the site is to go through =
the
uninstall process of Exchange 5.5.

BTW, the doc is still available, but it's located in the "Six Steps to
Upgrade from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000" The link to it is:

http://microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=3D/technet/prodtech=
nol/e
xchange/exchange2000/deploy/depovg/sixsteps.asp (link may wrap)

If the server is still online in your site, you should be able to delete =
it
like any other server (unless 5.5 has some freaky interaction with =
2000).
The only time I've seen problems with deleting a 5.5 server is when it =
was
already physically removed from the site before its logical pointers had
been deleted. If this is the case in your situation, then some research =
on
MS's site will yeild you the answer. Sorry, its been a couple of years
since I've done this little exercise...so I'm not much help.

Subject: [THIN] OT:Removing Exchange 5.5 from 2k enviroment

I am wondering if anyone still have the document on how to remove the =
last
Exchange 5.5 server from an Exchange 2K domain. I upgraded my 5.5 to a =
new
2K box but did not delete the 5.5. I am now ready to take out the 5.5
completely but just shutting down the server does not do it since in the
Exchange System Manager, it still shows the 5.5 server. Any help will be
greatly appreciated.

Vince
