Do you want to justify your comments?
If part of the upgrade was implementing folder redirection and hybrid
profiles?
What if your application delivery didn't include nfuse, what if the upgrade
has to be transparent?
NT 4.0 TSE/metaframe XP FR1 and Server 2003/Metaframe XP FR3 co-exist quite
well.
I've migrated about over a hundred IM/IMS packages from NT 4.0 to Server
2003 so far and then only issues have been with missing older Jet and DAO
components which are easy to add to the IM package.
Server 2003 is actually easier than Windows 2000 in terms of application
compatibility. Per-user file associations "almost" work perfectly (bloody
Autodesk!).

I wouldn't do that, but that's just my opinion.
I mean it can get complicated depending on your current profile strategy but
I would use this as a chance to do some new profile stuff as well.=20
Anyway I would use NFuse to front the two different farms. Then use (as
stated in the list previously) a variable to assign the profile path based
on The OS or implement a flex/hybrid profile.
The reason I say do this at once is that you may wind up doing two
migrations or one migration with some additional work. I would prefer one
migration for my sanity, and that of the users.

Hi Anthony,
Upgrade your existing 1.8 farm to XP first. It's be worth your while to come
up wih a strategy for handling separate profiles for the 2 O.S.s. Then you
can mix and match. NT 4.0 to 2003 is relatively painless, as long as you
don't want to migrate SQL and Exchange as well ;-).

I am on NT4 TSE and MF 1.8 for reasons beyond my control (political). I am
putting a plan together to upgrade to MFXP. I would like to be able to
upgrade the NT 4.0 servers to 2003 with MF 1.8, and then do an MFXP
migration. I have over 100 servers to upgrade (myself) - so I have to do
this in stages that will not interrupt the business and will be seamless to
the users. =20
