The weather had warmed up nicely today but later in the morning it was very
windy. We finished the day with 71 species. One really nice find was an Eared
Grebe in breeding plumage. We heard the first Prothonotary Warbler of the
season singing at Dead Woman Pond and saw our FOS Green Heron. We were
disappointed to find Deaver Pond almost completely dried up but hopefully the
repairs to the water level control structure will soon be completed and it will
catch some water before summer. Shorebird numbers were low.
