Dave, I've read some of the suggestions and they are right on. I got lucky on the last one I did and only needed to replace a resistor when all was said and done. After washing the board, I would take some airjet under the transformers, then turn the oven on low heat and place the board in the over for a few minutes. Then let air dry for two days and use some more air to see if any water droplets venture out from under anything. You always run a risk with a repair like this, so if this works, don't expect it to work on the next unit. support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx FAX 717-564-4952 Jeff Dougherty Intrepid Video & Electronics Be careful of your thoughts. 501 Luther Rd They may become your words Harrisburg, PA 17111 any moment. 717-909-8844 VCR tips, electronics info & general interest. www.intrepid-video.com www.tech-repair.net www.thetoolcaddy.com www.9-11-2001tragedy.com *********************************************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Huston" <DaveHuston@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, December 14, 2002 11:11 PM Subject: [TechAssist] Cleaning Coke from chassis ? This question is not model specific. What's the best cleaning solution to remove and clean Coke from a chassis board? I have a TV in shop that had pop accidentally spilled down the front of the picture tube and collected inside on the chassis around the IR receiver circuitry. I'd like to try to clean it before condemning it as unrepairable if that's possible. This set is just over a year old so I thought I'd try my best. Any advice is appreciated.
