Shirley,

I would put 2 Xs at 28 metres, and have 2 links, because if you only have
one link, MOVA will find premature end of saturation for the approach, as
soon as the first lane reaches end saturation. Retain X at 39m for VA, if
it's a high speed approach, OUT detector, and X sink for left turners.

Subject: [TCUG] MOVA question

Dear fellow MOVA users

I've got a poser for you!

I'm trying to work out how to code the detector data for the following
situation:

Single lane approach to signals widens to two lanes just 28 metres from the
stopline. There is one lane for aheads and one lane for right turners only.
Vehicles wishing to turn left have to use a free left slip lane just 10
metres from the stop line. I have placed an IN loop at 101 metres, an X
loop at 39 metres (before the single lane widens to 2 lanes) and an X-sink
loop on the left slip. Originally I had an X loop on the short right turn
lane to act as an X-sink for the ahead lane, but cannot see how to
accommodate the two X-sinks for the ahead lane.

Can I put a X loop at 25 metres from the stopline on the ahead lane to act
as the X-sink for the right turn lane, and use the left slip as a X-sink
for the ahead lane? The flows are fairly well balanced for all three
manoeuvres and none are insignificant.

Many thanks
