We have been asked by a local organisation why we don't use "bleep and sweep" units on staggered crossings. The only experience we have previously had was on a trial site and the units were soon removed (deemed unsatisfactory) and replaced with rotating tactile knobs. Does anyone have any long term experience of "bleep and sweep", are they now approved or still experimental, what design considerations need to be taken into account (length of stagger etc) and does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on their use. Thanks.
