Sharon I am currently involved in a Safety Audit where we have a half completed la= yout on a partially deferred scheme based on then current design standards. This involves pelicans, ASLs and cycle lane detail. To complete the scheme there= is likely to be some elements of burning off, and we are taking care to ensure that we only change what is vital. Apart from TAL 8/93 and all the other stuff we have been discussing earlier today, I have been commended the 2003 edition of Chapetr 5 of the Traffic S= igns Manual, and in particular in the current context Parts 15 and 16. Section 1= 5.10 makes reference to Diag 1001 (but no hint of Diag 1001.2). Section 16.13 is unambiguous. I have also been commended as good general background, The National Cycle Network Guidelines and Practical Details by Sustrans 1996, with two main caveats. The first is "bending out" where we have had some concerns over sa= fety and not yet introduced any. The second relates to the toucan where it shows= the old "tee" layout tactiles and refers to Disabuility Unit Circular 1/91 which was replaced by Guidance on the use of Tactile Paving Surfaces in 1995 when= the universal "L" was adopted. (Well known to those involved with BVPI 165). Th= ere is still incorrect cross refernces floating around to DUC 1/91 as late as 2= 003 in new publications.
