Yeah, it is quite expensive. Personally I'd get Wayfinder; actually I'm hopefully getting myself a copy at some point... a lot cheaper, less bulky and I don't have to keep loading my maps every time the Trekker's battery goes flat if they're still using Windows Mobile 2003. I just thought I'd mention the Trekker in case you've never heard of it - maybe I should've not brought it up :)

Cheers,
Amro

Hi Peter,

I'm not the best person on list to answer your question as I've never used
Wayfinder but here goes. Wayfinder will surely help as many VI people use it
and it's designed for such tasks. There's even an optimised version for VI
users of Wayfinder called Wayfinder Access or something along these lines.
Wayfinder is a cheaper alternative for other navigating devices which are
specially designed for the blind such as Trekker from Humanware. However,
the latter would have probably more features as it's a stand alone product.
For more info visit wayfinder.co.uk and humanware.com. There ought to be a
proper comparison between these two products somewhere online other than the
swift statements I've just made :).

HTH,
Amro

Okay, so today I missed my stop on the bus because my vision is getting so bad I can't make out the shapes of buildings anymore. Now, I've heard of a
program called wayfinder for mobile phones. Would this help me... Like
would
it bleep ... or buzz ... or vibrate ... or speak to inform me that I am
approaching my destination? How does it work, any URL where I can read up
on
it. And cost? And phones that it will work with?

Peter
