It is very sadd indeed! Technology is doing us a lot of good in that regard.I think it is helping the blind to learn how to reach out to one another more than before.
This is direly needed!----- Original Message ----- From: "Allison and Chip Orange" <acorange@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Yes; there's a commonly used analogy for this type of behavior: people often mention a bucket of crabs; any single crab can usually climb up the side of the bucket and escape, except that all the other crabs always grab onto himand pull him back down, so none of them escape. you can pretty much count on a bucket of crabs not getting lose because of this.I too see a lot of this behavior amongst blind people: I'm not going to help"him" in any way, because I was able to do it, and so if he wants it, he'sgoing to have to do it himself just like I did. it's a very common atitude, and it makes me pretty sad each time I see someone acting like that. Yes!That, too, is why we can't change the money or, make changes on the collegelevel and so on. I don't agree, though, that they are conspiring to divide us. They don't rush because half of us tell them what the heck, go on and use that money for something else. We have been getting by all these years and we will go on doing it.Those who can always with out diversion, I will admit they're smart and I'malways proud of them, but, they accept it or not, should bare in mind, we're not all the same in our abilities in coping withblindness.----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Plummer" <joeplummer@xxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 28, 2010 7:38 AM Subject: [tabi] Re: Quick noticeYou are right! I have seen this over and over in the blind community wherewe are just all going in different directions. No organization at all. Everyone is just out for his or her self. We are the only peoplewith a disability or handicap that cannot come together for the bettermentof our selves. I will give a example: Making money accessible. This is exactly why it has not been done already. The AFB has one opinion on it the NFB has another and We have our own. So there is no unity or coming togetherand there forth nothing ever gets done and we are staying in the same holewith the money not being accessible. Now this being said there is also fact that most people are not handicap or have a disability so things are done for the vast majority which we are not. Just some of my thoughts. They see that we are not all together, and they play us against one another, I,e, NFB, ACB. What ever they can use to play us against each other, they are using. And another thing, they know who votes, and who doesn't, so when you calldown there to the city hall, to bitch. They are looking your name up, andif you are not a registered voter, they are not even paying attention to youas a person. So lets make sure that when we are attending these meetings, that we are first of all. Registered to vote, and then lets find a way tobring all of us Blind people in the state together, to face this issue. Itsounds to me, as if they are using the same issue all around the state, tocause division. I think that with large blind communities like in Tallahassee, it's time for you guys to start using that to force changes, because Tallahassee is clearly not going to change concerning the busses, and what they are saying, is that the economy is bad, and they need to cut routs. You guys need to really stand up, because if you don't you will have only one bus going to the mall, and that area. They are just pushing, to see what they can getaway with. And if you guys let them get away with this, what will be next?-----Original Message----- From: tabi-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:tabi-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Plummer Sent: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 2:05 PM To: tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tabi] Re: Quick notice Well I am going to say this on list and then this will be all I will say on the subject of the bus schedule and race and slavery on list. After this we will have to continue it off list. I not saying the bus program is not going somewhat backwards and I not saying they shouldn't go into the malls. Yes it is sad that they are steam rolling over the blind community on the busprogram. But this has no connection what so ever with slavery or racism atall. Now this might have something to do with discrimination. That is a total different thing than racism and slavery. Just more of my opinions. A department of our city government is telling us to do something that is not safe to do. That is walking through the parking lot to get to the mall. Now what would happen to an African American who showed up on any other day of the week than Saturday 50 ears ago? Do you think African Americans would be safe on their shopping trip? It would be going backwards in time to insist that African Americans do their shopping on Saturday afternoons. If Star Metro is going into the Governor Square Mall now it certainly is astep backwards to take the bus service out of the mall. African Americans have fought long and hard to get the right to shop on every day along with the rest of America. We blind along with the rest of the disabled community don't want special treatment. Do we? We want that same chance like everyone else; as long as it is a safe chance. Simply said I don't want to go backwards. I was kind of sort of in favor of giving up bus service through May apartment complex for longer night and Sunday service. Now this seems to be off the table and no service to the mall unless one walks. We are going backwards here. I am not against walking. Tallahassee is not a walk able community, not yet.----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Plummer" <joeplummer@xxxxxxx>To: <tabi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2010 11:48 PM Subject: [tabi] Re: Quick noticeWhat does this have to do with his question? He was asking if it would beof a help if they got a foot in the door by starting getting the bus in the mall on the weekend he said Saturday but I would think he would also includeSunday on the list unless the bus doesn't run on Sunday. I don't see what this has to do with race or slavery! Just my thoughts. Yes Saturday wouldbe better than nothing.
