Well you know - they don't get the excitement when things work - around soap that is! I understand, I don't get it either when the motorbikes are running better because of stuff - and they get way more excited than me, when it's the bikes. The charcoal soap lather is a little off white - maybe better after a bit of a cure - we'll see. TD - well first time I used way too much - but hey, the soap is the smoothest I have ever made, and I loved the colour - haven't used it yet. Today, well I tried a swirl in the pot and poured into my upright moulds - colour good, but I did too much fussing before I poured! And the swirls don't stand out enough. Sort of vortex like - but not enough. Still going to keep trying. I'm determined to get it right! ----- Original Message ----- From: Ross Spencer To: soapcraft@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, May 15, 2010 3:32 PM Subject: [soapcraft] Re: Black Soap / Titanium Dioxide LOL, Liz Just reread your email and realised - Are the fam not quite so excited as you?! Makes sense to use alkanet and charcoal/black oxide. By keeping the particulate black (charcoal/oxide) levels low the soap should lather white. What happened with the TiO2 soap? I have finally made a black soap! Yes, I'm not sure why, but it has been a challenge. I've only been able to achieve varying shades of metal gun grey. I have just unmoulded and cut this afternoon and it is a lovely, smooth black! Colour is alkanet root infused olive oil and charcoal. The tip was on The Dish forum. Now just have to see if the colour of the lather is white or grey! Also unmoulded my second try at using Titanium Dioxide. The result not quite as I envisaged. Still, back to the drawing board and try again. Liz No virus found in this incoming message.
