The new blend is lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass, geranium, rosemary,
cedarwood rosemary & clove bud. I thought looking at it, that it would be
far too medicinal in scent. But it isn't - geranium is sooooooo strong it
mellows out the lavender, eucalyptus and lemongrass beautifully. The
original blend called for 10% clove bud, but I am very, very wary of clove
bud and only used 3% and added in 7% of cedarwood. It behaved so well, I'd
be keen to up the clove bud, just a smidge next time.

It is a really nice blend.

Mandy, Charcoal is also great for people with acne skin. So I'm wanting a
soap that looks good and has a purpose - might also appeal to the share of
the market that likes all things black. I'm all for expanding my soap
market and if this opens up a new avenue, all the better.

I do have to say, it is really slick and smooth and I tried a new eo blend -
even my 16yo son said it was nice! High praise!

I have to share with people that DO understand.

I have finally made a black soap! Yes, I'm not sure why, but it has been a
challenge. I've only been able to achieve varying shades of metal gun grey.
I have just unmoulded and cut this afternoon and it is a lovely, smooth
black! Colour is alkanet root infused olive oil and charcoal. The tip was
on The Dish forum. Now just have to see if the colour of the lather is
white or grey!

Also unmoulded my second try at using Titanium Dioxide. The result not
quite as I envisaged. Still, back to the drawing board and try again.

Liz
