Hi,

You should be OK in either case as long as the stubs hanging from the bus
are short(less than an inch). Per PCI spec, you have propagation time of 10
ns at 33 MHz. Assuming slower speed of 190ps per inch, 16 inches will take
16x0.190ns=3.04ns one way and 6.08ns both ways, which is less than 10ns.
You have 9 devices (no PCI connectors) which is less than max of 10 loads at
33 MHz. On a mother board, PCI bus is daisy chained, but each add-in card
introduces a stub on the bus.
Hope this helps,
Prasad

Subject: [SI-LIST] PCI Bus Routing

Hi,
Should a PCI Bus (32 /33M) going to 9 devices be routed in a daisy chain
fashion (will be about 16 inches long) or as a bus with stubs hanging off
it.
Thanks
Ira Kravitz
