This is so true too. At a recent show, I saw an owner go in the ring with
her TP. I felt so sorry for this lady, not only was she dressed and groomed
herself so sloppy, but her little Poodle was just as bad. The only thing even
remotely correct was his trim, but he was hardly brushed and not done up in
the way you expect to see a Poodle to be in the ring. I commented to my TP's
handler if she'd seen her before, thinking surely she just was a novice
needing some guidance. She proceeded to tell me how she comes to mostly the
local
shows, and over the years everyone has offered to show her how to groom, and
even going so far as offering to get her dog ready to go in the ring and
even handle it. She's always refused any help. So its pretty clear her only
motive is to go in the easiest class possible...in this case the novice class,
which in the breed is always pretty empty..and over time she walks away with 3
nice blue ribbons per dog to impress her puppy buyers with. On this day she
did get a blue ribbon too, sad part is the dog may not have been half bad,
but who could tell with it being so ungroomed :-(
