I think there's a twist that got missed here. Originally (maybe not now but originally) dog shows were the place for the JUDGE to evaluate breeding stock. Not for other people...who might be showing or just watching. Originally, the judges were respected breeders...other breeders wanted their opinions on their breeding stock and on the results of their breeding programs.
