You're great! I think I'll try a memory stick. As long as it's only my programs the only thing that could go wrong is it doesn't work. I'll try it after I have had enough sleep. I wake up a lot. The couple next door have bad fights. Lots of hugs

Some of the new laptops don't have one because so many programs are now downloaded directly from an i-net site. Even music is usually downloaded directly into a program such as iTunes. If you have only a CD, you may need to borrow someone's external CD drive and plug it in to the laptop long enough to download what you need. If you think this will be a constant thing, you might want to buy one.

Maybe someone else knows of a way to connect the laptop to your desktop and use the cd drive there. I've never had to do that, but I think it can be done. Not sure how easily.
