Actually, Kodak had a very large plastics business at one time; the Tennessee Eastman Co, makers of Tenite and many other products. They sold it about the same time as they sold off their organic chemical business.
Kodak has been in several businesses that do not appear at first to have any connection to photography but do indirectly, particularly as a result of research into organic chemistry, which was the life's blood of the company for a century.
