Jerry, I have seen hypo clearing agent turn purple from the left over
indicator in the indicator stop bath. If poor washing with a high pH water
supply, might cause a problem. I'd go with eth iron and maybe not just in
the solution from a bad wiper. When was the last time you check/changed the
filters on your supply lines? You do have some right? Depending on where
you are, one might see a change in water quality as we start to move from
very cold to cool in your water supply lines. No bubbles in the wash
preventing adequate water flow over prints?

The indicator dye in the stop bath should not case a stain since it will
leach out during fixing and wash.

Shannon...

Are you using an indicator stop stop bath?

The dye in Kodak's indicator stop bath is brom cresol purple... ie it
changes from 'yellow' to blue/purple
when the bath has reached over the optimum pH for 'acting' as an acid stop
bath.

I suspect that your stop bath needs replacing a little sooner... hence the
stain

It's a little smaller than a dime. (Of course it's on the best print.) I
wonder if it was caused by a defect in the paper (Ilford multigrade warm
tone glossy) or something wrong in my processing. I didn't see it till I
was done washing the prints.
