the FG had two unique qualities; it was ultra-compact, built on the
frame of the EM, which was much smaller than the FM/FE line or the F3
and it was nikon's first program camera (it also operated on Aperture
automatic and Manual).

if the FG your favorite camera, i'd venture compact dimensions and
low weight (it's probably something like 1/2 the weight of a D200)
are high among your priorities.

the FG was my very first camera and i learned a lot from it.

if i were looking for a replacement, i'd probably consider the FM3A,
which i think is nikon's coolest camera.
