You have a point, it is a useful-to-some want.
The point is that it doesn't have to 'useful' at all.
I thought this all got settled some time ago:

But I still state... go out and smell the roses......
Roses are useful?
If I go to shoot with a LF camera,
Now that's the last thing I would take to
go a rose-smelling.
