Yes, it can be, but - again - it leaves an oily residue that both
tends to protect the contacts but also accumulates crud.
A much better product for this is something called "Deoxit D5". I recently
used this to clean the volume and tone controls on a 30+ year old piece
of audio equipment. They feel- and sound like new.
